Lanserhof Tegernsee
An hour south of Munich, above the still surface of Lake Tegernsee, Lanserhof has built something unusual: 21,000 square metres of medical architecture that manages to feel both precise and deeply human. The Lanserhof Cure begins in the gut and works outward from there — methodically, over seven to twenty-one days.
Designed by Ingenhoven Architects and conceived as a secular monastery, Lanserhof Tegernsee opened in 2014 and was awarded World's Best Medical Spa at the World Spa Awards. Its medical philosophy is rooted in the LANS Med Concept — a synthesis of Mayr medicine, naturopathy, and frontier diagnostics that treats the digestive system as the primary gateway to systemic health. The building breathes: pale larch wood, vast glass panels, an inner courtyard that functions as the silent centre of the guest's day. Every stay begins with a comprehensive medical assessment by physicians who take their time. Consultations here are long and attentive. The resulting programme spans gut treatments, blood analysis, longevity diagnostics, personalised nutrition, movement, and specialist therapies including the CellGym procedure and cryotherapy. Suites and rooms are furnished with B&B Italia pieces and face the valley or the lake. The food, when not on programme, is quietly excellent.
