Kamalaya

Kamalaya was conceived by John and Karina Stewart — he a former monk, she a practitioner of traditional Asian medicine — as a place where healing could be holistic in the true sense: not a menu of treatments but a coherent approach to physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. The property sits within tropical vegetation on a hillside above 250 metres of private beach, with the sacred Arjan Cave open throughout the day for quiet contemplation. Nineteen wellness programmes — spanning detox, gut health, stress and burnout recovery, sleep enhancement, emotional balance, and healthy ageing — are delivered by a multidisciplinary team of naturopaths, Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners, Ayurvedic specialists, nutritionists, and life transformation coaches. Wi-Fi is intentionally absent from shared areas; rooms have no televisions. The pace is deliberately slow. Meals at Soma Restaurant are built around a community table — a considered choice for solo guests, of whom there are many. The cuisine is tropical, precise, and genuinely delicious. The 76 rooms, suites, and villas are woven into the natural landscape of granite boulders and forest canopy.
