Borgo Egnazia
Between the blue Adriatic and the ancient olive groves of Fasano in Puglia, Borgo Egnazia is a resort that looks, smells, and feels like a village — because it is one. The Vair Spa is guided by the Science of Happiness, and the team includes artists, musicians, and dancers alongside therapists. Italy's most joyful wellness address.
Borgo Egnazia was built in white tuffo stone to evoke the architecture of a Puglian village — alleys, piazzas, clock towers, secret gardens fragrant with jasmine, rosemary, and bougainvillaea. The 183 accommodations span hotel rooms in La Corte, townhouses in Il Borgo, and villas in Le Ville, each with its own walled garden and pool. The Vair Spa — "true" in local dialect — covers 2,800 square metres and is guided by the Science of Happiness: programmes developed with psychologists, aromatherapists, and cultural practitioners that incorporate laughter workshops, dance, sound, and the Aroma Lab, where personalised olfactory journeys are designed based on happiness profiling. The Roman Baths are the spa's physical centrepiece: a sequence of thermal rituals through caldarium, tepidarium, frigidarium, with ice fountain, hammam, and flotation pool. Blue Zones retreats certified by the Blue Zones Institute make Borgo Egnazia the only resort in the world to offer this programme. The restaurant Due Camini holds a Michelin star. The private beach clubs are ten minutes away.
